What are DCR Vs Non DCR Solar Panels?
Difference between dcr and non dcr solar panel: Although both solar panels are the same. You cannot tell by looking at the solar panel which solar panel is DCR and which solar panel is Non DCR. Almost all companies in India have DCR and Non DCR solar panels.
DCR Solar Panel:
The full form of DCR is Domestic Content Requirement and this solar panel is completely made in India. Many different components are used to make a solar panel, such as:
- Solar Cell
- Solar Glass
- EVA
- Back Sheet
- Aluminum Frame
- Junction Box
- Interconnector
- Silicon Glue
If all these components are made in India and a solar panel is made by combining them, then we call that solar panel DCR solar panel and you get subsidy on this solar panel.
All the government solar schemes, such as PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme or PM Kusum Yojana , use DCR solar panels in all of them .
Non DCR Solar Panel:
When any component is imported from outside the country to make a solar panel and the imported component is used in the solar panel, then that solar panel is called a Non DCR solar panel . You will not get subsidy on using such solar panels .
DCR Vs Non DCR: Which Solar Panel to Buy?
Now many people have this question that which solar panel should we buy? So the simple answer is that if you want to get subsidy under any government scheme, then you can only use DCR solar panel. But DCR solar panels are a bit expensive.
That is why when you get a solar system installed under a government scheme, you will find that solar system a little expensive initially, later you get a subsidy on it. For example:
3kW On-grid Solar System:
-
- If you install DCR with solar panels , the cost comes to around ₹1,70,000 , out of which you get a subsidy of ₹78,000 . In this way, you will get a 3 kW solar system for around ₹92,000 .
- If you install Non DCR solar panels , it will cost you around ₹95,000 , but you will not get any subsidy on it.
10kW Solar System:
-
- It will be expensive even with subsidy , because above 3 kW you get subsidy of only ₹ 78,000.
- If you want to install a 10 kW solar system , you can also make it cheaper by using Non DCR solar panels .
DCR Solar Panel Price
The price of solar panels keeps changing from time to time. In the last few months, the price of DCR solar panels has increased because DCR solar panels are available in very less quantity in the market, due to which their price has increased now. In the market, you are now getting DCR solar panels at the rate of about ₹ 20 ~ ₹ 25 per watt.
The price of DCR solar panels also depends on their technology. If you buy a solar panel with mono PERC technology, you will get it cheaper. If you buy a solar panel with bifacial technology, you will get it a little expensive. Similarly, if you buy an N-Type Topcon solar panel, you will get it even more expensive.
