On Grid Vs Off Grid Solar Systems Which one is better

We use solar panels to reduce electricity bills and increase battery backup, or even where there is no electricity connection, you can run your equipment by installing solar panels.
You get to see different types of solar systems in the market which you can use to reduce the electricity bill or to increase the battery backup, but it is very important to know which solar system will be right for you because installing a solar system costs a lot.
What is On Grid Solar System
Grid Tie Solar Inverter is used in this solar system. It converts the DC supply coming from the solar panel into AC and mixes it with the Grid supply and covers the load of your house. This reduces your electricity bill. But this solar system works only when the Grid is available. If the Grid supply is cut off, then this entire system stops working. That is why it is called On Grid Solar System.
The biggest advantage of this solar system is that it does not require a battery, which saves you a lot of battery expenses. But since there is no battery in it, you do not get battery backup even after the power goes off.
To install this solar system at home, the government also launches many schemes from time to time, such as the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana is currently running, under which everyone will get subsidy on installing solar panels on the roof of the house.
How much subsidy is available for installing solar system
If you want to install solar panels on the roof of your house, then you will get a subsidy of ₹ 30000 on a 1kw solar system and ₹ 60000 on a 2kw solar system. And you will get a subsidy of up to ₹ 78000 on a 3kw solar system. Even if you install a solar system larger than 3kw, the subsidy amount will remain ₹ 78000 only.
Cost of Installing On Grid Solar System
The cost of installing a solar system depends on its size, how many kilowatts of solar system you are installing. However, if you get subsidy on this solar system, then you get it quite cheap. Below you are given a list from which you will know how much it will cost to install an on-grid solar system.
Size | Subsidy |
1KW 2KW 3KW 4KW 5KW 6KW 7KW 8KW 9KW 10KW |
Rs.35,000 Rs.70,000 Rs. 105,000 Rs.140,000 Rs.175,000 Rs.210,000 Rs.245,000 Rs.280,000 Rs.315,000 Rs.350,000 |
You get subsidy on solar system only if you install solar panel on the roof of your house. If you want to install solar panel on top of your shop or office then you will not get subsidy there.
What is an off grid solar system?
This is a solar system which does not require a grid. Even if there is no grid connection at your home, this solar system will work because a battery is used in it. It is called an off grid solar system because it works without a grid supply.
Solar panel, solar inverter and solar battery are used in this solar system. You can run your load with the solar panel and also charge the battery. Due to which your electricity bill is also reduced and you also get more battery backup. But due to the battery, the cost of this solar system increases. And you do not get any subsidy on installing this solar system.
Off Grid Solar System Price In India
There is no subsidy of any kind on this solar system and battery is used in it due to which its price becomes a bit higher, if you want to install office solar system at your home then its price list is given below.
1Kw Solar System Price With Subsidy in India
Size | Subsidy |
1KW 2KW 3KW 4KW 5KW 6KW 7KW 8KW 9KW 10KW |
Rs.50,000 (12v) Rs.1,00,000 (24v) Rs. 1,60,000 (48v) Rs.2,00,000 (48v) Rs.2,30,000 (48v) Rs.3,10,000 (96V) Rs.3,30,000 (96V) Rs.4,20,000 (120V) Rs.4,45,000 (120V) Rs.4,70,000 (120V) |
So here you have been told about both types of solar systems. You can install the solar system which is more suitable for you. If you want to reduce your electricity bill then you can install On Grid Solar system and if you need battery backup and also want to reduce your electricity bill then you can install Off Grid Solar system.
